Jessica Speer, M.S.S

Author & Advocate for Kids and Families

Relationships are where life really happens. Through relationships, including our relationship with ourselves,…we connect, we grow and we learn to be our best.

Healthy relationships are foundational to a happy life, but they require a complex set of skills.  And because we develop these skills over time and to varying degrees (and we all goof up), relationships get messy.

My work and writing is focused on helping kids and families navigate their social and emotional worlds with more awareness and skill.  My first book on this topic will be published in early 2020 by Familius. This book grew out of my Project Friendships program that helps kids develop healthy friendship skills.

I live in the beautiful mountains of Colorado with my husband and two daughters. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences. In addition to research and writing, I visit classrooms and groups to teach about friendship and mindfulness. I also teach undergraduate courses at Colorado Mountain College.

Moments of connection are magical. They fill our soul and add meaning to life. My hope is to create more connection in the world, one child at a time.
