Introvert or Extrovert: Understanding and Supporting Your Child’s Nature

Is your child more of an introvert or an extrovert? What about you? Knowing your natural tendencies and those of your family will help you better understand and support your loved ones.

Introvert or Extrovert?

Maybe you are more of an extrovert and can’t understand why your daughter doesn’t jump right in and play with other kids. Or maybe you are more of an introvert and have a hard time keeping up with your son’s extensive social life. Introversion and extroversion are biological, meaning that these tendencies are hard-wired in our brains.

My husband’s more of an extrovert. When he’s alone, he usually calls up a friend. I tend to be more of an introvert and relish time alone. I enjoy being with people, but need to balance that with time and space for myself. Both of my kids tend to be a bit more introverted too.

Enbracing Our Tendencies

The more we embrace and accept each other’s tendencies, the more everyone in my family feels understood. Share this chart with your family to learn where they fall and celebrate everyone’s unique nature!
