If I could instill two things deep into the souls of my children, it would be that they are loved and worthy. As a parent, I feel there’s no greater gift I could give to help my kids lead full and meaningful lives.
Helping kids feel loved and worthy…sounds simple enough, right?
Interestingly, I’ve noticed it’s not simple at all. It’s so easy to get caught up in day-to-day tasks that daily opportunities to help my kids feel loved and worthy are often missed.
I’d like to do better. So, I’m setting an intention to do more of the following:
- Listen deeply – When my kids open up, it’s an opportunity understand them, their world and to make sure they feel heard
- Be loving – Lots of hugs, smiles and “I love you’s”
- Acknowledge the many things I appreciate about them everyday – Recognizing hard work, positive behaviors and the wonderful qualities that make my kids unique
If you could instill something deep into the souls of your children, what would it be? What would that look like in your daily life?
Inevitably life will get busy and we’ll get distracted from our intention, but luckily each day brings a new chance to begin again.
